Twinkle's 1st Dress

Sunday, February 26, 2012
Most of the time I do online shopping at Facebook for my Twinkle. You can check lots of online shops for your fur babies. Shih Tzus are fashionista in nature so who says they can't be?

It's not advisable to splurge your money on buying your shih tzu on its 2-4 moths. Just like what I did. Now, her dresses won't fit to her.

Luckily the 1st dress I bought from DogsinClothes Entp is  already good for 5 months and up. Her first dress was the zebra print.

zebra print (twinkle on her 3rd month)
The next dress I brought from DogsinClothes Ent is the pink polka which she just recently wore when we went to Laguna.

I bought these dress 200 each plus shipping fee which cost me around Php510.00. Thanks DogsinClothes Entp for making my twinkle shih tzu pretty.

SAN BEDA Jersey

Monday, February 13, 2012
I bought this cute San Beda jersey at Tiendesitas for only Php150.00 for Twinkle when she was just 2 months old. Actually it was  bargained during time. They are also selling Ateneo and DLSU jersey. Most sizes are for Chiuaua

I remember the jersey was so loose and my puppy can take it off so quickly.

She look so cute in her jersey. How I wish I can brag her at Araneta Coliseum during NCAA games!

To Have Twinkle Breed or Not?

Friday, February 10, 2012
I’m sipping my first try of happy lemon while thinking what to blog about Twinkle. I passed by Fully Booked bookstore at Eastwood Mall to read scan some books and found one for Shih Tzu.

It reminds me of my conversation with my office mates, teasing me to breed my twinkle. I told them, “no, I don’t want to! I don’t want my twinkle lose her virginity ever!”. An office mate replied, “your shih tzu might die at an early stage if you don’t have her stud. Besides, you’re like depriving her happiness”.  Since I was already convinced that I don't her to get stud by another shih tzu, a breeder advised me to have her spayed.

On a perfect timing while scanning the Shih Tzu book, I saw this page telling “Why it’s not best to breed your dog”. If you don't want your dog to litter there’s a surgical procedure which involves abdominal surgery to take the ovaries and uterus for female dogs called “spaying”, and “neutering” for male dogs.  It’s similar to ligation and vasectomy for us human beings.

The main objective is to avoid unwanted litters. Let me share the few key benefits which I have read from having your dogs neutered or spayed:

For Bitches (Female Dogs)
  • Owners avoid heat cycles for dogs, which includes aggression and dominance behavior.
  • It reduces risk of cancer such as mammary cancer, pyometra and uterine cancer
  • Of course obviously, it prevents unwanted pregnancy

For Male Dogs:
  • It abstains male dogs from desiring to roam around and pick a fight with other dogs
  • It reduces risk of cancer such as prostate and testicular cancer
  • It helps reduce leg lifting and mounting behavior (This is when a male dog bumps his organ something)

The reason, why I’m considering have my shih tzu spayed is the risk of losing her and her future puppies. My shih tzu is relatively small in nature and I was advised by the vet earlier that she’s not advisable to breed. I’m not yet decided whether I’ll have her go thru the rape process and later on have her own puppies. I'm just thinking advance, anyway she's still 6 months so let’s see :)

The Panty Liner

Monday, February 6, 2012

Just when I started blogging about my dog, she made a scene. Last night I saw her running and playing around the house. Our comfort room has been her hangout place these past few days. She’s fond of making her nose wet.

I called her attention and she immediately bolted towards our room. When I entered the room I noticed that there’s something underneath the sheets. Viola! I saw twinkle eating something and obviously she’s hiding it from us. To my shock I saw a panty-liner clenched on her jaw. I tried to grab it from her but she fought back. I asked my mom to help me out.

Imagine how messy and smelly her face was. I scolded her but she kept her eyes shut, the thing she always do when its scolding time. She always does that when I scold her, pouting her lips with matching closed eyes.

Teach me the doggie language

Dogs don't speak human. They do gestures, sometimes we can interpret but more often we have no clue what they are meant for. Dogs can always listen to our daily rantings in life but we can never listen to what they have to say. Imagine if someone can invent a dog interpreter machine. It would've been easier for us right?

Famous dog gestures includes wagging of tail, their form of saying that they are happy or wants to play. On the other hand, when a dog bares his clenched teeth and wrinkles his nose it means its ready to attack.

Someone tagged me this picture in facebook giving an illustration of dog gestures and what they mean. My favorite gesture is "Hello I love You"
