1st Day at Home

I was so anxious to introduce twinkle in our household members. I'm not confident that they will accept an indoor pet.

Just the way she captivated me, she also did to the rest of my family. I was surprised that my mom liked her as well.

Despite of her cuddliness, the first 3 weeks was tragic in housebreaking this pet. My fault was, she was spoiled from the moment she entered our house. As much as I wanted to kick her out for giving me additional household works. I just can't, specially when she raises her paw like this.

Buying the Shih Tzu

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Twinkle's real name is 'ZhenZhen of Rach-a-beth' (as stated on her PCC registration certificate). I bought her 12,000Php at The GroomingPalace Pet Shop at Tiendesitas Pet Village. This includes 1 shot of vaccine, a small pack of dog food, leash, 1 free grooming service and discounts on their pet merchandises such as cage, dog shampoo and comb.

What I liked about The Grooming Palace pet shop is the basic sanitation and accommodating pet shop staff. They also, offer quality puppies you can see it for yourself.

Dogs that are registered at Philippine Canine Club, Inc. (PCCI) are more expensive as compared to non-registered dogs. PCCPI was organize to promote and encourage love for pure bred dogs.

This is how a PCCPI Registration Certificate looks like...

So what do I get for having a registered PCCI dog?  Well, you get to have a paper authenticating that yours is a pure breed. The paper serves to main purposes (as stated PCCI):

  • It is like a birth certificate that lists down the date of birth of the dog, its sire and dam, color and specific markings.
  • It shows the genetic lineage or ancestry (four generations in the case of the PCCI) of each dog.

The Newbie Pet Owner

I’m not a big fan of dogs. This is my first time to officially own a shih tzu dog. Twinkle was a birthday gift for myself and I did not purposely bought her.

It was few days before my birthday and few weeks before my boyfriend’s anniversary. I was planning a grand surprise birthday gift to my boyfriend and it was his dream dog Siberian Husky.

As we are strolling around Tiendesitas pet shops because I’m secretly looking for a dog, we stopped by a purple pet shop. There I saw these cute little shih tzu puppies jerking each other inside the cage. I noticed this little shih tzu placed on a little isolated cage. It was relatively smaller than a normal shih tzu size.
The shop keeper asked if I wanted to take a look. I refused to but she insists. I think that’s one of their strategy to attract customers to buy their pets. As I hold the shih tzu, she confidently rested and cuddled in my arms. How can you resist such an adoring creature? So I gave in. It's too late, I don’t want this shih tzu off my arms.

My boyfriend asked me if I wanted the shih tzu. I know he can feel how much I wanted to take her home. So, he secretly asked the shop keeper if we can reserve the shih tzu until my birthday. Unfortunately, the shop keeper did not give her assurance to reserve the shih tzu for us. In an instance, I withdraw a money from the bank and bought the shih tzu for myself.

Though my savings is crying-out-loud for slipping off 12,000php in a second, I did not regret it. At least I got a live stuffed toy (which I call it) for my birthday gift.

You don’t know how anxious I felt to introduce the new pet in our household.
